The 25 Movement: From Under 10% to 25% in One Generation
Black Americans currently hold approximately 9% of US real estate wealth. Hispanic Americans hold less. Together, these communities represent over 30% of the American population — but less than 10% of its real estate wealth. The 25 Movement is a commitment to changing that. Not in 100 years. In one generation.
The goal: move Black and Hispanic real estate ownership from under 10% to 25% of total US real estate wealth within one generation — by 2050 at the latest.
Why 25%?
25% isn’t an arbitrary target. It’s proportional representation. If Black and Hispanic families own real estate in proportion to their share of the population, the racial wealth gap doesn’t close — but it begins to collapse. At 25% ownership, communities of color hold enough collective real estate wealth to generate the tax advantages, the intergenerational transfers, and the community reinvestment that compound wealth over time.
Getting there requires three things: access to information (understanding the strategies that build wealth), access to capital (HELOC products, DSCR loans, alternative financing), and access to community (people who are executing the same strategy and can share resources, deals, and accountability).
What Caused the Gap
The racial wealth gap in real estate is the compounded result of: redlining (which legally excluded Black families from wealth-building neighborhoods from the 1930s through the 1960s), discriminatory loan denial practices that persisted well past legal desegregation, exclusion from the GI Bill (which funded the white suburban middle class), and the information gap — the fact that the strategies wealthy families use to build wealth have never been systematically taught in communities of color.
The 25 Movement isn’t about reparations. It’s about information and access — giving families the tools that have always existed but have never been made available to them.
The Strategy Behind the Movement
The 25 Movement operates through the Wealth Engine: an integrated system of equity access, investment property acquisition, and tax elimination strategies that allows homeowners to build real estate portfolios without starting from scratch.
Every family that completes the Wealth Engine and acquires their first investment property is one family that has crossed over into the wealth-building class. Their children inherit assets. Their equity compounds. Their tax bill shrinks or disappears. And they become part of a community that shares deals, strategies, and resources with the next family in line.
